I no longer live in Atlanta. For those who keep up with such things, as of today I am officially a resident of the spanking-new city of Sandy Springs, Georgia. I came over the Chattahoochee bridge (which was not mentioned in "Ode To Billy Joe" but may have been part of an Alan Jackson hit) on the way home from work tonight and the sign didn't say "Sandy Springs--Unincorporated" any more. It said "Sandy Springs--City Limit". I thought that was pretty cool. It's not every day you get to be part of a new city being born. Apparently cityhood is supposed to be a boon to us residents (Sandyspringians? Sandyspringers? Who are we, exactly? Does anyone know?) due to more police presence in the neighborhood, taxes being spent more equitably in the community, and so forth. We'll see how it goes. I'm optimisitc, and am looking forward to seeing how things develop.

HA HA, you got a new address without having to rent a U-Haul! Yeah, something tells me that when I make THE move, it isn't going to be QUITE that easy, ya know?
